A Tribute in Honor of:
Edward Daszynski
March 6, 1918 -- Jan. 16, 2007
(from the obituary)
In 1941, Ed joined the Army and his 91st
Rcn. Sq. led the way from Casa Blanca,
Africa, to Tunis and Beserti. Later his unit
invaded Sicily; they fought their way up the
west coast of Italy. They were the first to
contact Anzio troops, the first to enter
Naples, and the first to enter Rome. He
returned home in 1945, married and raised a
family. He wrote "The Crumstown Family Life
and History" which was donated to the
South Bend library. He established
Mishawaka Lath & Plaster Co. in 1950. He
loved construction and did not stop at real
buildings... he built 14 amazing doll houses,
model railroads, a family farm house, a
peppermint still, a log cabin and a haunted
house - most of them given to children or
donated to the Center for History. He
enjoyed telling stories,  hunting & fishing,
bowling, pool, and wood-working.

Ed Daszynski was a very special man and well
loved by all of us at the Council Oak Woodcarvers.
His cheerful smile lit up the room and made you
feel good. His last visit with us was very emotional
for everyone. We will miss his generous spirit, his
many stories, and his laughter.  Ed was voted our
Carver of the Year for 2006.
