WEAVING ON GOURDS CLASSES PINE
NEEDLE RIM GOURD BOWLS

In this class students will dye a small gourd bowl and add a woven
rim of Southern pine needles.  After the rim is finished they'll finish
off their bowls with beads and feathers. Students will have their
choice of several different colors to dye their bowls, many colors of
waxed linen thread to pick from as well as lots of beads and
feathers too.

Kit includes: one cut, cleaned, and holes gourd bowl, 100 Southern
Pine needles, 12+ feet of waxed linen thread, dye or paint for the
project, beads, feathers and an instruction packet.

All other materials used in class provided by teacher.

PAPER TWIST FUN

Learn the basics of weaving in this colorful class using paper twist
and waxed linen thread on a gourd bowl.  Each student will get to
choose from a wide range of colors to use on their gourd bowl and
a dozen different colors of paper twist and waxed linen thread to go
with their design. When the weaving is finished students can finish
off the look of their piece with their choice of feathers, beads,
instructions, and natural dry materials.

Kit includes: One cut, cleaned, and holes gourd bowl, dye for the
project, 9 yards of paper twist, 12+ feet of waxed linen thread,
beads, feathers, and dry natural materials to finish their project.

PHILLY RIM BOWL

In this class each student will stitch two pieces of Philodendron
sheath to an angle cut gourd bowl using waxed linen thread. The
class will require two parts - one to stitch on the plant material and
the next day students can come back and decorate their bowls with
beads, feathers, and natural dry materials. No two bowls will turn
out the same as the one pictured as each student will get to choose
from a dozen different colors to dye/stain their bowl and many
different kinds of beads, feathers, and dry materials.
Note: Finish decorations for this class can be taken with the
student after the bowl is put together for addition by student at a
later date.

Kit includes: One angle cut, cleaned gourd bowl, two pieces of
Philodendron sheath, 6+ feet of waxed linen thread, instructions,
beads, feathers, and dry natural materials for decoration.

All other materials used in this class provided by teacher.

PYROGRAPHY AND STIPPLING CLASSES
Here are the class pictures and descriptions for the Pyrography and
stippling classes. The rooster and rose bowl are wood burned and
the pheasant is the stippling piece.

FEATHERS, FUR and FUN!
Pyrography is the term for this art form which means fire pictures.  
In this four hour class students will learn the art of rendering fur,
feathers, fins and more through the skilled guidance of award
winning gourd artist and teacher Karen Brown.  Students will render
one design in class on a whole gourd using only two tips/pens. A
ball shader and a skew or razor tip (small thin blade with round
heel).  For extra credit bring all your tips or pens with you.

Kit includes: One whole clean gourd, four page instruction packet,
three sheets of patterns, and a piece of graphite paper.

Each student will need their own temperature adjustable wood
burning tool and pens or tips.

Class length: 4 hours            Kit cost: $20.00

STIPPLING PICTURES WITH DOTS
Come to this class and learn the Victorian art of stippling.  
Rendering pictures using only dots of ink. This pen and ink class will
show you how to achieve these amazing results in just four hours.
Teacher has won many first place awards for her stippling on
gourds. Come and see what you can do too.

Kit includes: One whole clean gourd, instruction packet, three
sheets of patterns, one 3 piece India ink pen set, and a piece of
graphite paper.  All other materials used in class provided by
teacher. I will have extra pen sets for sale - $10.00 for the 3 piece
sets and $20.00 for the 6 piece sets.

GOURD DRUM CLASS - limit 10 students

Come to this class and walk out with your very own gourd drum!
Each student will cut and lace their own drum head while learning
about the long rich history of gourds and drums from award winning
gourd artist Karen Brown. All materials not included in the kits will
be provided by the teacher.

Student kit includes: one gourd cut, cleaned and ready to work, one
wire hoop, one spool of ribbon, one length of rawhide lacing, one
rawhide drum head,

FLOWERS WITH COLORED PENCILS

Students will learn the techniques called scrumbling and layering in
this fun filled class using professional grade color pencils on a
whole gourd.  Several patterns to choose from and keep. All
materials not included in the kit will be supplied by the teacher.
Color pencil work can be an added pleasure to your next wood
burning project.

Kit includes: One whole clean gourd, one 24 piece of professional
grade color pencils, three sheets of patterns and one piece of
graphite paper.
